Types of Massage Treatments

Our therapists will customize a massage style that is right for you
Below are some descriptions of commonly known massage styles. Our therapists use a combination of these modalities in each of their sessions.

Craniosacral

CranioSacral Therapy (CST) is a gentle, hands-on method of enhancing the functioning of the craniosacral system. Using a soft touch generally no greater than 5 grams, or about the weight of a nickel, practitioners release restrictions in the craniosacral system, which has been shown to improve the functioning of the central nervous system, as well as many other systems of the body, such as digestive, musculoskeletal, respiratory, circulatory, and more.

Swedish Massage

A traditional manipulative technique used to promote relaxation and ease muscle tension. This includes, sweeping movements, kneading, vibration friction and percussion. Can be gentle & slow or vigorous & stimulating based on the needs and wishes of the client.

Sports massage

Ideal for sore or fatigued muscles, this is a series of strong energetic movements that will prevent muscle soreness after an event. Sport massages are a great way to flush out any impurities, and stretch tight muscles. This is a medium pressure massage recommended right before or after physical exertion.

Deep Tissue & Trigger Point Therapy

Consistent, slow, deep pressure is used to relieve chronic aches and pains. Isolated pressure applied to trigger points releases an accumulation of chemicals and lactic acid that build up in the tissues causing knots and referred pain. Myofascial release techniques can also be used as a soft tissue therapy for the treatment of skeletal muscle immobility and pain.

Optimizing Your Massage Experience

  • Read massage therapist biographies and choose a therapist that fits your needs best

  • Try to limit or refrain from drinking alcohol the night before and refrain from caffeine the day of your massage

  • Drink lots of water the day of your massage, except 1 ½-2 hours before (so your massage isn’t interrupted by a bathroom break)

  • Communicate freely with your massage therapist both before and during your treatment.

  • Inform them of your preferences:  Goals for session, Areas to focus on or avoid, Pressure

  • Epsom salt baths are great for continuing the relaxation and detoxification process If possible, allow for some “Downtime” post massage

  • Having a light meal or soup prepared beforehand can feel like a treat to come home to after your massage

What to Wear for Your Massage

Since massage oils or lotions are often used during your treatment, we recommend choosing comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that you don’t mind getting a bit of product on. While our therapists use high-quality oils that absorb beautifully, you may still have a light, nourishing residue on your skin afterward, so wearing breathable fabrics like cotton or linen is ideal for your post-massage glow.

During your massage, you are welcome to undress to your level of comfort; most guests choose to undress completely or leave on undergarments, and our therapists use professional draping techniques to ensure your privacy at all times.
